It might be a good idea to maximise your weekend by staying overnight on the Sunday and take a more leisurely departure having had breakfast on Monday morning. Rooms must be vacated by 11am on Monday.

Check-in begins at 2pm on the Friday and goes through into Saturday, allowing flexibility of check in times for people who are travelling a great distance. Just go along to the Ufdance desk in the Metropole and fill in a registration form. You can then and collect your room keys and information pack. Checkout is at 10am on Sunday or Monday depending how many nights you have booked for.

By Road
Located in the centre of Llandrindod Wells the Metropole Hotel is easily accessible by Road. The A483 passes in front of the hotel. Our large car park is situated to the rear of the hotel.
If you are coming from the south the best route is over the second Severn Bridge and up the A449 then A40 to Abergavenny. This is all Motorway or Dual carriageway. It is about 45 miles to Llandrindod from Abergavenny. From the east take the A44 from the M5. From the north take the M56 off the M6 then the A483

By Rail
Llandrindod Wells train station is a short walk from the hotel and is linked by the Heart of Wales line to Swansea and Shrewsbury. Trains run about four times a day. Arriving by Coach from Kelmscott
Executive, coach transfer is an option for those who are staying for 3 nights and are travelling from East London. Places must be pre booked at a cost of £39 per person return. The pickup/drop off point is Kelmscott Leisure Centre, Markhouse Road, Walthamstow, London E17 8RN. You may board the coach from 6:30am; it then leaves at 7:30am, arriving in Llandrindod Wells by 1pm. This should allow you sufficient time to check-in and enjoy the local area, have a massage, enjoy the facilities or just simply chill out & relax before taking part in the welcome class.
The return transfer will leave at 11.30am on Monday 25th January and is expected back at Kelmscott Leisure Centre at around 6pm.
Transfers from other locations can be arranged if enough bookings are received.
Please DO NOT pack your luggage in hard suit cases but instead use a single, soft ‘hold-all’ type bag and/or suit carrier, this will allow all the baggage to fit comfortably into the hold. There is no need to stock up on groceries or water as there is ample shopping within easy walking distance from the hotel.

For your assistance the coach will have a Ufdance rep who will ensure you are well looked after with complimentary rum punch, soft drinks, water and snacks. The coach will be equipped with CD & DVD player as well as having a toilet on board.
*Remember – coach places must be pre-booked and paid for in advance, DO NOT just simply turn up – you may not be able to get on!!

Time Keeping
The stated transfer times are etched in stone!! It is unfair to keep others waiting which causes unnecessary delays leading to fellow travellers feeling very frustrated. Allow yourself plenty of time to get to the pickup point. Traffic delay is not a valid excuse for lateness! We suggest that you allow an extra hour on to your journey and do book your taxi in advance, as there is no guarantee that cars will be available on the morning of travel.

Accommodation
The Metropole is a high-grade hotel with modern function rooms, health club with sauna, steam, Jacuzzi and swimming pool, which can be used by all guests of Ufdance. You may book to stay for either 2 or 3 nights. Places are limited so an early booking is advised.

Meals
Breakfast and dinner is included in your package. Lunch can be purchased from the hotel brassiere or locally in the town centre.
We would respectfully ask that you dress for dinner in the appropriate theme as it looks a whole lot better when we all make an effort and everyone is looking well turned out, it gives you that extra special feeling.
But what ever you do please DO NOT come to dinner wearing sports wear or trainers. Offenders may be asked to get changed before being allowed into the restaurant.

Workshops/Classes
All workshops/classes will take place in the Metropole hotel.

The array of workshops/classes will cater for as many different tastes and needs as possible. There will be workshops/classes for advanced, intermediate, improver and beginner levels.  Different styles of salsa such as Cuban, LA/NY cross body and other dances, for example bachata and cha cha cha, will be included. In addition, content will be varied to include partner work, ladies styling and specialties such as dips and tricks. There will also be a special workshop on rhythm and timing.

This weekender has attracted some of the UK’s top fitness and salsa teachers, which enables you to learn from the best. This will prove to be a real treat at any level.

You may attend as many workshops/classes as you please; some will treat it like a salsa and fitness marathon. Make sure you are up early to do run/walk around the lake (see timetable). Regarding the salsa workshops, you don't need a partner to attend; teachers are asked to rotate couples, just as you would find in a normal salsa class.
Both fitness and salsa classes will start and end simultaneously allowing you to interchange if you should so choose.

Other Activities
We have made arrangements with a local sports centre to hold a badminton tournament, plans can also be made for long distance running with local club runners or 5-a-side football but these activities will depend on the minimum number of participants being reached. Therefore, please indicate on your booking if your prime purpose of attendance is to partake in any of these activities. You can also hire a mountain bike, please check at the Ufdance desk for details.

Parties and Show
Each night there will be a themed party. On some nights the parties may be separated into salsa and club vibes, you can freely move between these rooms. Shows will take place each night after dinner. You’ll see a mixture established acts alongside some up and coming – a great way to get inspired!

After the show, come the parties held in two different rooms of the Metropole hotel – so whether you’re after hardcore salsa and mambo, urban Latin and Afro Cuban vibes, Hip Hop, Reggae, Soca, R&B, Club Classics or mixed up Party music then there’s a room for you! Friday & Sunday night’s parties starts at 10pm and should go on until at least 2am – could be much later, depending on the vibes!! Because all the accommodation is in-house, you can be tucked up in bed within minutes of leaving the party!!

  • Friday – Denim & White
  • Saturday – Black Tie Ball
  • Sunday – 70’s Psychedelic Party

Shopping
Llandrindod Wells has a supermarket plus many small shops in the town centre, which is short walk from the hotel, so there is no need to fill your suitcase with groceries from home. Be warned that some of these shops close at around 3pm on Saturday and may not open at all on Sunday.

There are banks and building societies in the town centre close to the Hotels.

Merchandising Stands
This event will be great places to do some stock piling for your salsa & fitness bits‘n’bobs. A funky new salsa outfit, the perfect dancing shoes, new trainers hard to find music and DVD delights, accessories or even take a massage. Ufdance will have its own stand, offering a selection of t-shirts and small items of clothing, so it's well worth a visit.

Massages (optional extra)
Professionally qualified masseurs will be on hand to give you that well needed massage. These guys specialise in all forms of massage and pampering treatments, which are done in private through out the day, they’ll be happy to fit you in at all different times but you must book beforehand.  Please make your booking at the hotel reception.

Security
Boss security will be on hand to assist should the need arise. Its main function will be to check that everyone (including me) is wearing the appropriate wristband according to his or her booking details.
Please DO NOT remove your wristband. Even if the colour is not to your liking!! Not wearing a valid band may result in you having to pay for another one should it go missing.

Prizes
We are firm believers in rewarding good efforts.  Therefore, spot prizes will be awarded throughout the weekend for those who have used thought and imagination in choosing their outfits. Prizes will also be awarded to clients who have shown big efforts all round; therefore, absolute beginners to salsa or early risers for the morning run could gain for their efforts!

More to do…
Should you feel the urge to do something other than fitness or salsa, then why not enjoy a walk around the lake, which is just up the road from the hotels or a visit to the local spa where the town got its name? You could even get a ride to the Brecon Beacons and experience the breath taking scenery.
