Great Places to run in London

Hyde Park

Hyde Park is one of the largest green spaces in central London and provides a truly great place to run, right in the heart of the capital. The park provides a great place to run and is in a pleasant traffic free environment which is often hard to find in London. If planned correctly the route can inlude Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, Green Park and St James Park. The later parks provide an opportunity to run right past Buckingham Palace. The routes given are all on road/paths and are virtually completely flat.

Regents Park

Regents Park is another great green space in the heart of London. The route provides an opportunity to add extra distance by going into Primrose Hill. There is also the chance to do some track work because there is a fantastic cinder track on the outside of Regents Park. As with the Hyde Park loops all the routes are on road/paths, Regents Park is relatively flat, however as the name suggests Primrose Hill has some hills.

The River Thames & The Canal Connection

Along its journey from the Cotswold’s to the sea the River Thames is joined by several man-made canals. These canals play a vital role in our lives in so many ways. They are all used by walkers and anglers, by boaters, cyclists and wild life enthusiasts. They are also vital for the transference of water from different parts of the country. The River Thames Guide seeks to explore the Canal Connection.

Richmond Park

Richmond Park is a 955 hectares (9.55 km2; 3.69 sq mi) urban park within London. Almost three times as large as New York City's Central Park, with too good to be true views, wondrous animals hopping along as if to greet you personally. This is an astonishing park and perfect for running on your own or in a pair. Richmond Park also has a nature trail and the park goes for miles, from one end is Richmond to another.  Up on a hill you get to see a nice panoramic view of Richmond and surroundings, so beautiful and peaceful.

Clissold Park

Clissold Park is a much-loved local space in Stoke Newington and is well used by the local community. It’s relatively small compared to some of the other London Parks but packs a fair amount in to the area. Along the route, a big house with a cafe, a couple of lakes with wildfowl, a play area for children, tennis courts, football pitches, a wildlife enclosure with deer, goats and rabbits, and even an aviary. If you fancy a long walk or brisk run, you’ll need to do a few laps to get any real benefit if you really want to stretch your legs for over an hour.

If running is your passion or you need a place to train, why not visit one of these wonderful parks. Not only does running increase or maintain a healthy fitness level, it also improves the mind body and soul.
